Public Art Commissions

“To Dream of Birds” A memorial bench for Kate Springett on Hampstead Heath 2004
Large-scale carved and constructed pieces using ancient tools - axes adzes and gouges and green woodworking techniques working with oak, elm, sweet chestnut etc.

Education

Jeff has undertaken over thirty successful educational residencies  over the last fifteen years. These residency commissions are often for schools and institutions where the artist works with pupils and students to create permanent, mostly outdoor pieces. These are often entrances, archways, totem poles, external wall mounted sculptures usually in carved oak or coppiced wood.  These pieces make reference to the life and history of the institution involved.

An introduction to the safe use of handtools such as axes, adzes and mallets and gouges is a central feature As the project develops children will be introduced to a range of handtools and green woodworking techniques.
Performance
Jeff has been fascinated by the relationship between sound, place and performance for many years and working with musicians and dancers, has created a number of site specific performances for both urban and rural settings. Most recently  Hidden Blossoms, Seven Dials Festival 2002, Suddenly Created World, Covent Garden Flower Festival 2001, Oolitic Fragments Portland Sculpture Trust 2000
